Interpreting the World Through Mathematics
Applications and Interpretation (Standard Level) is designed for students who are interested in applying mathematics to real-world contexts and interpreting quantitative information with confidence. The course emphasizes modelling, statistics, probability, and the effective use of technology to analyse data and solve practical problems. Across five core topics—Number & Algebra, Functions, Geometry & Trigonometry, Statistics & Probability, and Calculus—students develop the ability to interpret results, construct and refine models, and communicate mathematical reasoning clearly.
With greater emphasis on data analysis, financial mathematics, statistical distributions, and technology-driven problem solving, AI SL is particularly suited for students pursuing social sciences, business, psychology, design, life sciences, and other data-oriented disciplines.
